00/hr JOB Overview:
Reporting to the Production Supervisor or Production manager of the Molding Products Division of Interplastic corporation, the Festooner operator manages the activities of the Festooner section of the SMC machine for smooth (efficient) manufacturing of a consistently high-quality product.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):
BE A CHAMPION OF SAFETY and lead by example wearing ALL PPE required to perform job duties, (Safety Goggles, Proper uniforms, cut resistant gloves) and ensure production personnel are also following all plant safety rules.
Identify unsafe acts and conditions.
Resolve and report immediately to supervisor.
Maintain good records of the day's quality issues regarding the SMC product.
Interact with Production Supervisor regarding daily production schedule.
Stationed at the output end of SMC machine he/she coordinates with SMC operator and QC Technician for a smooth and efficient festooning or rolling of SMC.
Setup Festooner in preparation for production running by stringing film through rollers and collecting scrap on startup.
Proficient at operating the buttons of the SMC 2 Festooner and conveyor system.
Inspecting all the SMC that is being loaded into the tote/box and straightening any bad folds, dog ears or misaligns in tote/box, observed streaking, contamination or other quality defects or issues.
Checking your paperwork off each hour that you are inspecting and checking that the side seals are in fact sealed as the SMC is loading.
Stamping (Or Initial and shift if you don't have a stamp) on each label that gets put on the totes/box.
Cleaning of the Dr.
Boxes of paste and resetting the dams when they are cleaned and ready for next run.
Cleaning of the festooner rollers when excess SMC that may have spilled out from the unsealed edge.
Cleaning and sweeping of your festooner area once the runs are completed for the day.
Dumping of any trash generated in the Festooner work station.
Mark boxes containing cuts in the SMC.
Helps SMC Operator to load the film during film change.
Monitors SMC for streaks, dry glass, edge quality, and proper festooning.
Cuts defective SMC from strip and places defective material into scrap box.
Watches for Glass outs, Paste outs, etc.
and gives verbal alarm when this happens.
Keep the Production Supervisor informed of any issues that prevent achievement of the above goals.
Responsible for handling and record-keeping of Hazardous Waste at or produced on SMC 2.
Assists the Packer with building, and laying boxes as they get consumed during the compaction process when time permits.
Assists with staging and cleaning the glass room when time permits.
Monitor QC yellow tags and complete re-packs as time permits.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS High school diploma (GED) or equivalent.
1 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing plant environment preferred.
Good verbal skills with an eye for detail.
Multi-task oriented, flexible, safety, quality, and customer committed.
Ability to work independently while a team player complimenting individual and team objectives.
Ability to drive Forklift.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
and handle full 55-gallon drums.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
Certified and prepared to wear respirator if and when directed.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
