Value Stream Manager


Our client is a global Tier 1 automotive supplier of OEM powertrain, engine and aftermarket products. Join the team as a Value Stream Manager at their South Bend IN location.

ROLE
Summary:
Leads, directs and coordinates all phases of manufacturing activities for specified product lines at the shop floor level. This position reports to Focus Factory Manager, Machining with dotted line responsibility to A&F and Foundry Focus Manager and has dotted line responsibility for Foundry and Machining Supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Monitor machining production processes to ensure production goals/requirements are being met.
Implement Lean Manufacturing techniques that will ensure that the machining production processes will meet management expectations through utilization of Six-Sigma, Root Cause Analysis and other Lean Manufacturing problem-solving techniques.
Own results of production level quantities, quality, scrap reporting, efficiencies, etc.
Communicate with outgoing and incoming Supervisors to review production requirements, machine problems, OAE, etc.
Communicate with production operators, engineering, and management to ensure that positive change occurs where needed.
Facilitates as manufacturing process lead to achieve standardized machining processes for similar customer product families.
Interpret quality and production data to ensure that the machining production process is meeting management expectations and operational objectives.
Monitor incoming stock from the foundry to ensure that both quality and quantity requirements are being meet.
Monitor downstream processes for any problems that may have originated during the machining process.
Monitor tooling usage to ensure that ongoing quality/production requirements can be met.
Provide leadership for all launches in your value stream including prototyping, process development and product implementation up to and including SOP.
Coordinate the installation and trial of all new processes and capital improvements.
Instructs on safe work practices and promotes safety consciousness while practicing safety procedures, enforcing policy regarding safety and making recommendations when needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:

Working knowledge of manufacturing procedures including SPC and CNC machining required.
Preferred candidate will have Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with value stream / line supervisory or management experience.

Experience:
Work requires ability to delegate assignments and train employees.
Good interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy are necessary.
Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
Demonstrates leadership ability, conflict resolution and problem solving.
Experience within a foundry environment and heavy industrial environment.
Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with new innovation to economically solve manufacturing problems.
Previous experience applying Lean and/or six-sigma knowledge to the manufacturing environment.
Willingness to travel to customers, suppliers and group companies.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
