Due to growth, the company currently has an opening for a Loss Control Specialist. This position is responsible for providing loss control consultation services to current and prospective policyholders for their Workers Compensation Division. The company will set up an office in your home and you will work from there when not traveling.
Job Description
As a Loss Control Specialist, you will leverage your knowledge and experience to make recommendations that will improve employee safety & health. The Loss Control Specialist is responsible for providing loss control consultation services to current and prospective policyholders within an assigned territory: Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota.
ESSENTIAL
Responsibilities:
Manages assigned book of business within a given territory.
Monitors policyholder loss activity and develops loss reduction plans.
Assists policyholders in identifying key objectives to improve safety and loss control at the workplace; provides consulting and training services to support the account reaching loss control objectives.
Serves as resource to underwriters, brokers and insureds in the field of safety, loss control and regulations related to employee safety.
Develops and participates in presentations to insureds, underwriters, other company employees, brokers and Loss Control vendors.
Reviews underwriting requests for loss control and coordinate assignment of work with other loss control staff.
Performs special assignments and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate of four year college or university program.
3-5
years of insurance work experience, preferably in workers' compensation insurance.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, and financial reports; respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; write and critique detailed reports that describe the operations, exposures and controls of a wide array of industries; effectively present information.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Knowledge of a moderate range of industrial operations and employee exposures to occupational hazards; office operations, workflow analysis, and current technologies in telecommunications, data entry and file management.
While management skills are necessary those are secondary to this position's ability to evaluate and correct technical performance deficiencies for contractors and assigned employees.
Knowledge of Microsoft word processing software; Microsoft spreadsheet software; and be proficient on applicable databases, systems and vendor software programs.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
Workers Compensation experience a must!
Healthcare experience is a plus.
